Howdy Folks! Leems here with wonderful news that there is no longer a 20% tariff fee on orders to the USA. We have implemented a slight increase in shipping of +$2 USD to help cover duties & brokerage fees on shipments. This means when you place your order from Little Lemur, you'll experience no extra fees upon delivery. You may still need to pay taxes on your order depending on where in the USA you live, as we do not collect those on site for international orders; however there will be no other fees popping up upon delivery.
Why Was There A Tariff Fee?
On August 28th, 2025 the Trump admin cancelled "De Minimis" import status for all nations around the world. Previously tariffs, import fees and the need for brokerage could be avoided if orders were below a certain value threshold (for Canada to USA it was $800 USD). This made international trade smoother & allowed folks in the USA to receive international goods inexpensively. Without de minimis not only does importing items to the USA become much more difficult with declarations & certifications, it also means that any item, regardless of value, is inspected and has a tariff fee & duties applied to the order.
Little Lemur charged a 20% fee to cover some of these expenses, though the actual fees were: 35% IEEPA tariffs, 10% duties & then the brokerage fees of shipping providers able to import to the USA atop this. We thought charging customers 50% in fees atop their order value was simply unreasonable, so we opted to pay most of it and charge a lower fee in order for folks to still be able to afford our stickers.
Why Are There No Longer Any Tariff Fees?
After months of learning the new procedures for shipping & exporting orders to the USA we found the fees to be unsustainable & had to look into ways to reduce them. CUSMA, previously NAFTA; is the current trade agreement active in North America & has some regulations in place to ease trade between North American nations that cannot be overturned by the current administration of a single member nation. By adjusting our materials sourcing to be compliant with country of origin terms Little Lemur can now apply a CUSMA certificate on all customer orders travelling to the USA & avoid the worst of the fees (the 35% IEEPA tariff).
All our products & materials, from vinyl to ink to the boxes we ship in are now fully sourced & produced in North America. Our vinyls remain the same high quality ORAFOL materials. Even though they are a German company, ORAFOL produces all over the world, including Canada & the USA; so our materials have not changed. Going through this process also helped us find local suppliers of goods, allowing us to support other small business' & Canadian producers.
While we still pay the 10% duties & brokerage fees for customers, removing the 35% tariff fee has allowed us the breathing room needed to no longer require an additional fee on orders to the USA. To help cover these remaining fees we have increased our shipping on USA orders slightly; however you can receive free shipping on orders over $150 to avoid paying these entirely.
